Overview
Automotive locksmith service: what to know
Car work is priced from the vehicle, not the street. A 2008 pickup with a plain metal key is a very different job from a push-to-start SUV with a proximity fob, so the first thing the dispatcher will ask for is the year, make, model and whether you still have one working key.
Garages are part of life here: commuter decks by the train station, apartment garages downtown, hospital and office parking. If the car is in a gated garage, tell the dispatcher which level and how the locksmith gets through the gate.
What to have ready
Have the vehicle's location, the year, make and model, and if possible the VIN (it is visible through the windshield on the driver's side). Proof of ownership is required before a new key is made, so keep the registration or title handy. If it is locked inside the car, the locksmith will open the car first and check the paperwork after.
Automotive key jobs start at $100.00 on the price list because every key is cut and programmed differently. The key extraction coupon applies to car locksmith service, labor and parts.
